Sunshine Corner

Little StepsSunshine Corner accommodates up to 15 children aged 1-2. It has a staff ratio of 1:3.

Sunshine Corner is a bright, spacious room which caters for up to 15 one to two year olds. Practitioners follow the Pre-birth to Three national guidance for babies and young children to provide a safe and nurturing environment.

Every day the children have the opportunity to explore their creativity through natural, sensory and heuristic play in an environment which is thoughtfully created to encourage the children to explore the world around them.

Every day the children have the opportunity to explore their creativity through natural, sensory and heuristic play in an environment which is thoughtfully created to encourage the children to explore the world around them.”

Practitioners skilfully plan experiences which allow the children to explore using their senses and to develop their physical and social skills. The foundations of early literacy are laid through stories, rhyme and song which are woven into the children’s day.

In Sunshine Corner we take into account that children all learn and develop at different rates and we strive to ensure that we plan according to the interests and needs of the individual child.

Resources are invitingly arranged to allow children to choose independently with time and space to explore what catches their attention. There is also ample space for children to move around freely as they develop their physical skills.

In Sunshine Corner the children have direct access to our outdoor play area and also make use of our large green space. The children can explore the natural environment using all of their senses on a daily basis, witnessing at first hand the changing of the seasons.

Each child has their own learning journal which records their significant milestones and achievements. We actively encourage parents to play a role in their child’s learning by sharing information about their child’s interests, progress and achievements.
